Let's Talk about Volunteer Engagement Partnerships

We're asking nonprofit leaders to complete a brief survey that looks at their perspectives and experiences on volunteer engagement partnerships with companies. The survey closes on July 30, and the results will be released in September. Please help spread the word about this important opportunity to gather new data insights!

Looking for Executive Directors that boldly support Volunteerism

We have the honor of updating a well-respected resource by Reimagining Service Council Member Betty Stallings: 12 Key Actions of Volunteer Program Champions: CEOs Who Lead the Way. We are reaching out to many of the original interview subjects to ask them, as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), about how their perspectives on volunteerism have evolved over the years; we also want to hear from new leaders too.

If you know of an executive director, or CEO, that boldly supports volunteerism, we want to hear from you. By August 1, send an email to Season Eckardt  providing the name of the person, contact information, and one sentence that briefly describes why, or how, this leader fosters a smart volunteer engagement strategy for his/her organization. The recommended leader will be asked to complete an online survey. Executive directors can also contact Season directly, if they have interest in participating in the survey.

VolunteerMatch Webinar featuring members of the Reimagining Service Council

What if the way nonprofits and companies are currently engaging volunteers is all wrong? How can we make sure we're strategically involving volunteers to provide maximum impact?

On August 6 at 10 am PST/1 pm EST, join four members of the Reimagining Service Council for a VolunteerMatch webinar to talk about these questions and other strategic volunteer engagement opportunities. Don't miss out on what will be a lively conversation! More details and registration information here

Public Sector Volunteer Engagement News

In February, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad established the first-in-the-nation Governor's Council on National Service in Iowa to work with the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service (ICVS) to uncover new opportunities for volunteerism, both at home and around the nation. In the Council's preliminary report, released this month, service enterprise research is prominently featured as a way to make the case for how volunteerism benefits the social sector. Beyond supporting the service enterprise concept, the Council is looking closely at how state agencies and local government can meet their mission while also expanding service opportunities in Iowa.

We're pleased to see this dual interest in service enterprise and volunteerism in the public sector and excited to learn more about the final recommendations that will be released in February 2015.
